New Feature on Trade Web Site Features
State-by-State Breakdown
of Trade Agreement's Benefits
WASHINGTON, DC - With the increasing focus on Congressional
approval of the Dominican Republic-Central America Free Trade
Agreement (DR-CAFTA), Business Roundtable today launched an
interactive, online map to demonstrate the state-by-state
benefits of the agreement. The new feature is hosted on trade.businessroundtable.org,
Business Roundtable's online trade resource center.
"Across the country, there is widespread support for DR-CAFTA
because it will help grow the U.S. economy and create jobs,"
said Brigitte Schmidt Gwyn, Director, International Trade
& Investment Policy. "This new interactive tool provides a
'one-stop shop' for visitors to see DR-CAFTA's economic benefits
to individual states as well as examples of the many grassroots
voices calling for the agreement's passage."
State-specific information on DR-CAFTA appears as visitors
scroll across individual states on the map. Feature information
includes data from the U.S. Department of Commerce and U.S.
Department of Agriculture, links to Business Roundtable's
Congressional District Studies, excerpts from local newspaper
editorials in favor of the deal and more.
For instance: clicking on the state of Texas will provide
users immediate access to pro-DR-CAFTA editorials from the
Amarillo Globe News, Corpus Christi Caller-Times, Dallas Morning
News, Houston Chronicle and San Antonio Express-News. In addition
to state-wide government data, numerous studies on the economic
benefits to many Congressional Districts is also available.
The Roundtable's trade resource center features in-depth
information on a wide-array of trade issues, with a particular
focus on the benefits of the Dominican Republic-Central America
Free Trade Agreement (DR-CAFTA). Thousands of unique visitors
have come to the site since its April 4 launch, and Business
Roundtable constantly updates the site's content with breaking
trade news and links to other online resources.
